Chris Green, an Irish citizen and diplomat from the embassy, will speak about the beautiful nation of Ireland. We will learn about its rich history, fascinating food traditions, and unique sports. Chris will also speak about the life of a diplomat and the responsibilities of his job, as well as the issues that can arise when working in a foreign embassy. We’ll explore Ireland’s relationship with Europe, particularly the complexity of sharing a border with neighboring England who is in the process of leaving the European Union. Finally, we’ll learn about the relationship between Ireland and Japan.

Chris Green is the Second Secretary and Consul at the Embassy of Ireland in Japan. He has served in Japan for two years, and works on consular, agriculture & food, energy and environment, and sport issues. Prior to his posting in Japan, Chris worked in Consular Division, in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s HQ in Dublin, and prior to becoming a diplomat he was a press officer for a political party in Ireland.
